The cam host changed boxes to give us a look at the start of another eastern bluebird nest.

Nest Building

A pair of bluebirds has definitely started building a nest in this box. It may not be much longer before we have eggs!

Three Eggs

There is one egg for everyday she has been laying: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. We'll have to see how many more she may have.

With fifth egg laid Sunday, the clutch is complete and the female has begun incubation.

The female is still incubating. The male will bring her most of her meals so that she can spend more time on the nest.

Eastern bluebirds are very unique birds. Both within and between populations, there can be a remarkable level of variation in morphology and behavior.

Estimated Hatch Date

Eastern bluebird eggs can take about two weeks to hatch. These eggs should hatch somewhere around June 7th.

These chicks surprised us and hatched a couple days early! So far, there are three chicks and two unhatched eggs.

We can now confirm that all of the eggs have hatched!

Feeding

The chicks are being brought a meal by the adult male. In bluebirds, both adults aid in the feeding of the chicks.

Growing Well

The young bluebird chicks are doing well. Though, the image can be a little hard to see at times.

Not Much Longer

The five chicks are still doing very well. They are growing fast. They should fledge around June 22nd.

Fledge Day

The chicks fledged very early this morning. They all left the box within a short span of each other.
