    Third Egg!

    5049Birds provides the time line for the third egg: "Mom arrives at 9:05 am. She looks at the other 2 eggs for a moment and sits on the nest. She turns around several times during the process. At 9:35am she is at the nest box entrance and gone. 3rd egg is laid! It took approximately 30 minutes." View video highlight of second egg laying.

    Four Eggs!

    The Clutch is complete at 5 eggs!

    The female begins incubating on the day the clutch is completed. Only the female builds the nest, incubates the eggs and broods the nestlings. Both parents feed the young. View time lapse video of this day.

    All five eggs are still in the nest, but we're expecting hatching in the next few days.

    The first chick hatched early this morning. The rest should be following shortly. It has been exactly two weeks since we estimated incubation started.

    This little chick is developing nicely. It's feather are in pin and should be complete in the next couple of days. The chick is also learning to crawl and move about the box.

    Sleep Over

    With only one chick, the female is still able to roost in the box at night. It's like a sleep over.

    Almost Grown

    This little guy is almost as big as the female now. He should be fledging around the beginning of next week.

    Empty Nest Syndrom

    The single chick in this nest fledged late in the afternoon on May 1st. All this is left are the four unhatched eggs, one of which has been cracked.
